At Cosmetica Plastic Surgery & Anti-Aging, the final appearance of your surgical scar is of utmost importance to us. During your surgical procedure, we use only meticulous surgical technique and make a conscious effort to protect your skin. We avoid placing sutures thru the outside of the skin, which can lead to additional scarring. Since tension on surgical incisions can result in widened scars, we approximate the skin with little or no tension.
Despite our best efforts, post-op healing is generally beyond the surgeon’s control. There are numerous factors that are involved in the healing of surgical incisions, including your age, sex, skin color, race, sun exposure, smoking, hormone status, how well you follow your post-op instructions, etc.
At Cosmetica Plastic Surgery & Anti-Aging, we have tried several scar therapy products over the years and we have been most pleased with Silagen and it is the only product we recommend for our patients.
“Received top notch service and attention! Everyone was very pleasant, professional and administered treatment exactly as requested; with a great outcome. I’ll definitely return for additional treatments.”
Silagen is 100% pure medical grade silicone gel and has no potentially irritating ingredients. Silagen feels soft and silky and was preferred by 98% of physicians surveyed.
Silagen is the fastest drying silicone gel on the market. Once applied, Silagen patented gel dries within minutes, forming an invisible silicone sheet over the affected area. This invisible silicone sheet works by stopping excessive water loss that occurs in scars. This excessive water evaporation activates fibroblasts to make collagen. Left unchecked, the excess collagen product results in abnormal scarring.
Silagen applied over the scar stops water evaporation, hydrates the outside layer of the skin, turns off excess collagen production, resulting in better scars
The patented silicone formulation in Silagen has been shown to flatten, soften, and smooth scars, reduce discoloration, as well as relieve associated itch, pain and discomfort of scars.
Silagen should be applied to the area in a very thin layer, twice daily & should remain in contact with the scar 24 hours/day. The recommended minimum treatment time for new scars is 60 to 90 days and 90 days for older scars.
